Hi all! Justin here, as the managing partner in the franchise my day to day activities usually doesn't take me to a job site. After 6 years of doing every job (2 with another franchise and 4 with my own), I have been able to "let go" for the last year. Since the addition of Jamie as our Production Manager to help our lead Crew Chief Dustin, I have been able to focus a bit more on different tasks that don't usually put me inside of a loss, at least not until most of the work has been done.
Today was different, with some projects in progress and Jamie on the road, I was called back up to the big leagues (if I may make a baseball reference, Spring Training is underway next door to our office).
I realized what made me love disaster restoration in the first place. Our customer called in a panic, she had just returned from Hawaii to find that the home inspector for her home sale had left the water on and a washer valve ran for 5 days! Needless to say there was quite the loss on her hands.
I assured the customer that it was my first priority, told her I would be there within an hour, rounded up Dustin and we were there within 45 minutes. Once there, I knew she was concerned due to no longer living here and wanting to get home as soon as possible. Also, her investment, her money and her life today, we all under water.
Dustin and I explained the process of making sure to stop any secondary damage and recovering the property from the original damage. Within minutes she relaxed, I told her that I was going to personally make sure she was well taken care of and that she didn't need to worry.
The project is now in the process of drying and the repairs are being scheduled for when we finish the remediation so she isn't held up returning home.
The best part of the job came when she gave me a key and told me that she felt comfortable enough to go have "a beer and a nap" since her house was in good hands.
Her compliments and trust in our work and process is worth all the soreness in my muscles tonight.
